medellin is a city of contrasts. warm people, and insane traffic. metropolitan innovations, and simple pleasures i love it. to stay (see below for info on guatape): what kind of traveler are you? how do you like to see a city: most places will tell you stay in poblado, but i really really don't recommend it. it's very touristy and can be unsafe because it's so touristy. that being said, a lot of the best restaurants and cafes are there, as well as some nice hotels. i suggest staying a bit away from calle 10, but don't walk at night. alternatively, here are some other close by neighborhoods: patio bonita, tesoro, castropol, campestre, la frontera. if you want a quieter place near cafes, places to walk and great parks/the stadium: stay in laureles. it's very flat and easy to get around, but crime has gone up there because there's a lot of tourists. tons of bars, restaurants, cafes, and 70, which is a fun place for nightlife. if you want to see how loca...
